A picture is worth a thousand words.....
Or in this case, a picture is worth a few hours spent snapping hundreds of shots to capture a single golden moment. Rat photography is an art. It takes time, patience, and some simple photo editing skills to crop that turd out of the picture! When photographing rats, natural lighting is best. Always remember to use a quiet environment where your rats will feel safe and secure. Use dangley objects and treats to get your rats' attention and remember to just snap away! When you take lots of photos, you are sure to get a few good, unexpected shots. When photographing young rats, it is common for them to poo a little during the photo shoot. Always pick up the poo as you see it so it doesn't ruin a potentially good picture. Use backgrounds that compliment your rats' coloring and markings, or use a white back drop if you want a good representation of your rats' coloring. Props are fun, but when using props, make sure they don't pose any danger to your rat. Safety is far more important than a cute picture. Also make sure to photograph the rats in a safe environment. If something startles your rat, you don't want it to run away and be injured or lost forever. And most importantly, HAVE FUN!!
Pinkies and young rats are something only a mother can love! They are blind, hairless, and have very little resemblance to what they will one day become. Still...there are moments when newborn rats take your breath away with a cute moment.
My rats love to give sugar! Whether it's cleaning a bit of food off my face, or just showing some affection, these guys are some great kissers!
These pictures are some really great moments I captured. Either the rats being silly, funny outtakes, or cute faces!
Fun Times and Funny Faces
There is something irresistible about watching a rat eat. Maybe it is the human like quality they have when they hold their food with their cute little paws. Maybe it is just that smug look of satisfaction that slides across their face. Whatever the reason may be, I just love watching my rats chow down!
These are the pictures I have taken of the rattery. I currently use a Martin's RUUD cage for the girls, a Martin's skyscraper for the boys, and I have another empty Martin's skyscraper in preparation for expansion. I make almost all rat decor myself.

Gone to the Bridge
Here you will see pictures of a few of the past rats I have had that have gone to Rainbow Bridge. For those of you that don't know, Rainbow Bridge is a beautiful place all pets go when they pass away. There, they are cured of all illness, and they play and eat all the goodies they want. RIP little buddies.
